Degenerate Enterobius vermicularis - note characteristic eggs in uterus. Worm surrounded by fibrotic capsule. Occasionally the adult female worm may migrate beyond the cecum to the appendix, or reproductive organs and diagnosis may be via biopsy. Occurrence of characteristic eggs in the section is useful. The adult worms have conspicuous lateral alae, platymyarian musculature and large lateral chords but often are degenerate and ahrd to recognise. .
